Bonfire Night

Remember remember the 5th of November, gunpowder , treason and plot !

As many of you know I am from England, and I have fond memories of the cold November nights every year that many people from the town gathered at a local park. Warming our self beside a huge fire, children competing to make the best Guy to burn on the fire, finished up with a fireworks show that would mesmerize me.

So that’s exactly what we did, decorating the beach with barrels of gunpowder a big bon fire, seating and friends to share in the very English tradition of Guy Fawkes Night.

I told the story of Guy Fawkes and his friends plot to blow up parliament in the 1600s, and why it became a tradition we celebrate.

The fire glowing by  midnight we had strong classical music playing on the stream and after  a good chat, and marshmallows being passed around. Carla finished the night with an amazing fireworks display!

It was stunning to watch the flashes of colours and shapes in the nights sky, I had that same feeling I would get as a child warm within my thick coat on a chilly night.

I was so glad to share this tradition with all of our friends, and look forward to doing it again next year !
